A Picture Paints A Thousand Words

Everyone Has Photos

I took this picture on a vacation to Lake Tahoe two years. It sits stored on my computer. I am by no means a photographer, but with some experience, most people can learn to take awesome photos. With the huge growth of websites and the internet itself, there is a great need for stock photos. Everyday, people search for good photos to help illustrate their websites, ebooks, ezines and many other online publications. Opportunities exist to make money by taking pictures because of the large amount of potential buyers searching for photos daily.

Stock photography is a collection of photos or images taken without a specific purpose but kept on a database to be reviewed and possibly purchased for use in magazines, publications, books, ads, websites and even brochures.

An often less expensive option is microstock photography. It is easier to get your photos accepted by these agencies. These agencies are still looking for high quality images but the image size they require is much smaller. Commissions earned on pictures are smaller, many times only 20 to 50 cents per download. However, think of how many times a day one good picture may be downloaded and suddenly that number grows quickly. I would suggest uploading many photos to several different stock agencies at one time. Many of these microstock websites are free to join and you could be uploading your photos that day. Others have more stringent rules and want to see a sample of your images before they allow you to be a member.

Sell Your Photos Online

This was my first visit to Devil's Tower in June, 2009. I could not believe the beauty of the tower. It is something you just have to see for yourself. The tower seems to just pop up out of nowhere. I was in awe of it's beauty and hope to see it again someday.

These pictures were taken with an everyday digital camera - a Cannon Digital Power Shot. There are many ways to earn money using a digital camera. It takes dedication and of course some skills. Your pictures must be of good quality without trademarks or logos. As you keep taking pictures, you will hone your abilities to take exceptional photos. The technology of cameras these days makes it much easier to produce high quality pictures. The opportunity exists to earn a monthly residual income by submitting photos online to stock photography companies.

How Many Wonderful Photos Do You Have?

I couldn't resist putting a photo of Abby here!!

The internet is still in it's infancy. It is growing by leaps and bounds. If ever there was a need for stock photos, it is now. Thanks to the great world wide web, there are many opportunities to earn money with your digital camera. No website is needed. No expensive camera or equipment is needed. This can be done anywhere in the world. There are many resources available if you search the internet. As with anything else pertaining to earning money, you must do a little research to learn the best ways to get started selling your pictures. One can google anything these days.

To read more about how to sell pictures online, please visit here. I have a friend who was finally accepted by ShutterStock after two tries. After one weeks time, she had 92 uploads of her pictures. This does work but it requires action on your part as well as patience. As with anything in life, the more you put into it, the more rewards you will reap. Diligence is what builds a business and not taking no for an answer.

If you choose to make money taking pictures, it would be wise to have your own website. They are easier to create than you might think. Visit the link below to grab your free ebook on how to create a website. This was the ebook I used and still use today. It walks you through every step of the process and I found it very easy to use.

Make Your Own Website

To take photography one step further, think about creating your own website in which to show your pictures. It isn't that difficult to do although the first time took me longer because I didn't have any knowledge on how to do so. Check out my article where you can get this Free ebook.

My hosting of that website is free because I belong to the Chris Farrell Membership site. He is the author of that wonderful ebook that taught me how to build websites. If you don't belong to his site, you will likely have to pay a monthly fee for hosting. I recommend HostGator. They have several plans to choose from.

Abby is gorgeous! What breed is she? Age?

Sadly, I need a higher resolution camera - but on my list - maybe for Christmas.

Great Hub and I adore Abby - thank you for sharing!

Hi GmaGoldie,

Abby is 9 years old and she is a purebred Golden Retriever. The picture doesn't do her justice - she is a gorgeous dog. A few months ago, she was ill and not being able to keep her food down and losing weight. Vet changed her diet and she eats small meals several times a day and is doing very well. Gained her weight back and she is no longer listless.

Thanks for your comment and inquiring about Abby!
